School Field Trips

Hillcrest Orchards offers an amazing field trip in our outdoor classroom.

September: NEW FIELD TRIP ORCHARD — each child picks an apple from the tree.
November: Each child will be given an apple to take home.

Activities Included

  • A wagon ride through the orchard and beside the pond with giant catfish, ending at the NEW FIELD TRIP ORCHARD.
  • Milk Buttercup, the Jersey cow (supervised).
  • Taste our fresh-squeezed, flash-pasteurized apple cider.
  • Watch an educational video about the apple growing process.
  • Visit the petting farm to hold and pet baby animals (including a just-hatched chick).
  • Learn with Barney the Talking Bull about cows, chickens, and how we keep bugs off our apples at the Learning Center.

School Field Trips

Lunch & Extras

  • Eat your sack lunches at the large picnic area.
  • End your day with our famous swimming pig, goat, and duck races.
  • If time allows before loading the buses, field trippers are welcome to shop in the market.

Logistics

  • Duration: The tour lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours (not including play time and lunch).
  • Who can attend: Parents and siblings are welcome to join field trips.
  • Arrival: Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the buses to pay and check in.
  • Bus parking: Buses drop off and pick up in front of the market, then exit and park at the top of the hill (plenty of parking).

Teacher Guidance

Allergies & First Aid: Please be aware of any allergies (including bees) among your students and staff, and be prepared to render any emergency first aid that may be needed. Hillcrest shall not be held liable. Please ensure anyone who may be affected uses care or does not participate.

Attire: We are a working farm—please dress like a farmer. Closed-toe shoes recommended.

Note: For parents who forget their lunch, box lunches are available for sale in the market.
